Tenet Healthcare, parent-corporation to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo County, is supporting the relief efforts in Haiti in many ways.   Tenet donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross and launched a nationwide campaign in its hospitals and among employees to contribute money.  A one-time payroll deduction for a Haiti relief contribution is being offered to employees.

Due to the unstable infrastructure and lack of on-the-ground support, Tenet is not deploying any personnel to the region at this time. Tenet maintains a full-time data base of employees interested in responding to disaster situations and has encouraged its employees to update their intentions. Tenet has more than 6,000 employees in its data base willing to assist in time of disaster.

Tenet’s Corporate Incident Command Center is coordinating with government agencies to access and respond to medical supply needs as they are identified.  Tenet’s Command Center also will monitor medical evacuation plans and prepare Tenet hospitals in regions that may see a surge in medical evacuees from Haiti.  Two Tenet Florida hospitals, St. Mary's Medical Center and Delray Medical Center, have received patients from Haiti.
