Fourth Grader Names Sierra Vista's daVinci Robot
Created by Gavin Hughes, a Fourth Grader at Winifred Pifer Elementary

Sierra Vista’s daVinci Surgical Robot finally has a new name thanks to one local fourth grader.   Gavin Hughes from Winifred Pifer Elementary in Paso Robles submitted the winning entry, THEO. The name is actually an acronym for Technology Had Endless Opportunities. With 711 entries from around San Luis Obispo County, the judging was quite competitive. In addition to naming the robot, a coloring contest also took place. Winners of the coloring contest were chosen from each grade level and given gift cards to Blockbuster and Jamba Juice. The school with the most entries, Winifred Pifer, received a $250 donation to its PTA.
