Sierra Vista Hosts Annual Turkey Drive
Fowl Play at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center
Sierra Vista’s very own “T-Rod” has been pardoned once again this Thanksgiving season. For the second year in a row, this life-sized bird has helped rally support for the San Luis Obispo County Turkey Drive. Three hundred forty turkeys were collected at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, thanks to the generosity of hospital employees, physicians and community members. Another 15,000 pounds of non-perishable food items and $7,000 were also donated. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County to help provide nutritious meals to the hungry in our community this holiday season. Local radio and television crews broadcasted live throughout the event, which lasted from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.
