A change has come to the Sierra Vista Emergency Room. It’s now the first hospital ER in San Luis Obispo County to offer patients the opportunity to hold their place online, while waiting in the comfort of their own homes.

The service, called InQuickER, uses an online registration form and provides patients with a list of available time slots throughout the day, allowing them to reserve their spot and arrive at the projected treatment time. InQuickER is only intended for individuals who have non-life threatening medical conditions. Individuals requiring immediate medical treatment should go directly to the nearest emergency department or call 911.

“We know people want more convenience and communication in their ER experience,” explains Georgette Sabota, RN, Director of Emergency Services at Sierra Vista. “Estimates and averages about emergency room wait times may vary.  With this service, users enjoy the convenience of choosing where they wait and a projected time to see a healthcare professional in the ER.”

InQuickER does not affect the wait times of other emergency room patients, nor does it allow certain individuals to “cut” in front of others. Additionally, if the projected treatment time changes due to an influx of patients requiring priority treatment, the user will be notified and given an alternate time, or a refund. The fee to use this service is $9.99.  If the patient is not seen by a healthcare professional within 15 minutes of their appointment time, the fee will be refunded in full by InQuickER.

Sierra Vista also offers patients the ability to check the current wait time in the ER before they leave home.  For more information on current ER wait times or about holding your place online, go to: www.SierraVistaRegional.com.

The emergency department at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center treats approximately 22,000 patients each year. Patients to the emergency department are separated by clinical need into specialized care areas. All patients benefit from advanced technology, quick response and an experienced team of professionals who care for patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Sierra Vista is also the only Emergency Room in the County that has a pediatrician available 24/7.
