The Sierra Vista Neuro-Spine Institute was established to address all musculoskeletal pain and discomfort, particularly affecting the spine and back, as well as neurosurgical issues. The Neuro-Spine Institute works to diagnose and treat nonsurgical conditions through rehabilitation, pain management, imaging and education.
Phillip Kissel, M.D., is medical director of the Sierra Vista Neuro-Spine Institute. Dr. Kissel brings more than 20 years of clinical excellence to the program. He is board certified in neurological surgery and attended The Chicago Medical School, completed an internship at UCLA-Harbor General Hospital and residency at UC Davis School of Medicine. He has provided leadership to Sierra Vista in many capacities including serving as the hospital’s Chief of Staff.
Dr. Kissel is joined by Dr. Abraham Rasul who is a fellowship-trained physiatrist with expertise in orthopedics. He also completed additional training in sports medicine and interventional pain management. Dr. Rasul uses nonsurgical treatments to help restore function for patients with chronic pain or disorders affecting muscles, bones and joints. He also provides analysis of golf swing biomechanics and treatment for golf-related injuries.
Dr. Rasul trained in both physical medicine and rehabilitation, with training in interventional pain medicine, and orthopedic surgery with fellowship training in total joint replacement and sports medicine. He graduated medical school at the University of the Philippines. He completed his fellowship in total joint replacement and sports medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Dr. Rasul was named a Top Doctor in physiatry for the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., region by U.S. News & World Report.
